Play Day: Oatmeal Dough Recipe

We have had a fun day at home today. Since the children enjoy crafts and play dough so much, I decided to search for a new dough recipe. We had fun mixing up a batch of oatmeal dough. It obviously had more texture than regular play dough, but we had fun with it. Even added a little cinnamon for a great smell. Here is the recipe:

One part flour, Two parts oatmeal, One part water. Mix all together with your hands until it forms a dough.

We used LESS water than the recipe suggested, adding a little at a time. Otherwise it would have been too sticky.

The children really enjoyed the new concoction! Hope yours do too.

"It's Kinda Like Gospel Music!"

I never get tired of the wonderful comments that come from our precious 3 year old. Last night she got a splinter in her foot, and later at the table during dinner she had a very pensive look on her face. She was obviously in deep thought, and then soon declared, "It's kinda like gospel music!" We had NOOOO idea what she was talking about. When we questioned her she said, "You know, when you get a splinter in your foot, (keep in mind that she was demonstrating this WHILE explaining) you raise your hands into the air and dance around like this, kinda like gospel music!" Can I tell you that we were CRACKING UP! I just adore the insight of little children!

Saturday At The Zoo

The weather was really beautiful today, so the whole family piled into the car for a fun morning at the zoo. We were able to get some nice photos during our visit, and will post them soon. Today we purchased a zoo membership, which also includes free entrance to the Knoxville Zoo and Baton Rouge Zoo and half price admission to the Atlanta Zoo. What a great bonus! We have been wanting to visit the Knoxville Zoo, so this is a wonderful benefit for us! It was another fun family day!

Happy Birthday Nina!! We love you!!

Daddy's Home!

We loved having daddy home today! We decided to use one of our last membership days at the Creative Discovery Museum. Playing in the sand digging up dinosaur bones, and playing in the water were some of the highlights of the day. Matthew loved the Little Yellow House, especially the small slide in the toddler area. I think that he discovered about every way possible to ascend and descend that thing! He was quite the little comedian! Matilyn also enjoyed creating an optiacal illusion of a fish in a fish bowl during craft time. We love that place!

We are so thankful for Good Friday, and spent time today talking with the children about Jesus and what a wonderful Lord that He is! We explained Good Friday and the importance of remembering all that the Lord has done for us. Later we did some coloring and enjoyed lots of family time.

Thursday 70 Degrees, Today SNOW! (Photos coming soon)

It was just two days ago that we were enjoying a sunny afternoon playing outdoors with our family. Today we awakened to snow! The children had a great time running and playing together as the large flakes fell from the sky. Afterwards we enjoyed homemade cinnamon rolls. It's been a nice day!

Peanut Butter PlayDoh

It's craft time again, and th s time it was messy AND delicious! Peanut butter play doh was a huge success. The recipe called for 1/2 creamy peanut butter and 1/2 powdered milk. After promising craft time I realized the we were out of powdered milk, but while rummaging through the pantry I found powdered chocolate Nesquick! Hmmmmm, let's try that instead! Soooooo it turned into a delicious experiment. There's nothing quite as fun a gooey hands mixing up a concoction! The girls had a blast. Matilyn is not a peanut butter fan, but I think that Alexis ate half of her dough while creating her masterpieces! We were cracking up!

They're here! (Photos coming soon)

Lani and Alexis arrived from Baton Rouge today. We are so glad that they are finally here! The children have had so much fun today riding the bikes out in the warm sun. They pulled each other in the wagon and had a great time with sidewalk chalk.

Fingerprinting In Atlanta, MATCH WARNING!

Today Nina kept the children while we made our trek to Atlanta for fingerprinting. We are amazed at how quickly the process is moving towards our I171H! It makes me wonder how quickly a referral is on the way. It seems that we are one couple out of seven awaiting a referral through our facilitators in Taiwan. We are in awe as we watch God's hand moving throughout the process! For the fingerprinting we were expecting a large federal building with a ton of security or something, and instead found ourselves inside a one story business center office, much like where you might get your driver's license. We entered the doors and were told to leave all cell phones, cameras, and pocket PC devices in the car. They didn't even want purses in the building. Next we filled out a short form and were given a number to await our fingerprinting. We waited approximately 45 minutes prior to being called and the process went fairly smoothly. I remember reading that someone on the Yahoo adoption boards was very concerned during her fingerprinting process, when she saw the words "MATCH WARNING" pop up on the computer. I am SOOOO glad that I read her post, because I also had the same experience for at least one of my fingerprints, and Jarrod did on one of his also. We had to laugh about it!

Afterwards we celebrated by going to The Cheesecake Factory! YUM!!!! What a treat, especially since we don't have a Cheesecake Factory in Chattanooga.

It was a great day and we are very thankful that everything is moving right along.......
